Train Accommodations

Whether your travel takes you to Canada's east or west, VIA Rail trains get you there in style and comfort with their first-class accommodation. In your "hotel on rails", service is always friendly in the lounges and dining areas. Attendants prepare sleeper cars for the night, converting seats and overhead compartments into beds. You just have to relax and enjoy the fabulous scenery passing by your window!

John Steel's tours include the following VIA Rail train accommodations

On board the trains, enjoy panoramic views from the scenic dome car (on select trains), socialize in the lounges and savour freshly-prepared meals in the dining car. Sleeping car accommodations on John Steel’s overnight journeys are a restful retreat with all the comforts of home. Choose between a berth, a single or double or an ensuite bedroom. Most VIA Rail sleeping cars have a convenient shower room and provide amenity kits, which include a bath towel.

• Travel from Vancouver, BC to Toronto, ON aboard VIA's flagship train, the Canadian and enjoy the comfort of the Manor Sleeper.

• Travel down east to the friendly Maritimes aboard the Ocean (Montréal to Halifax). VIA’s eastern Canada trains, including the Chaleur (Montréal to Gaspé) feature the Chateau Sleeper and the state of the art Renaissance Sleepers on the Ocean.

• The Park car with its wonderful panoramic scenic dome is available on the Canadian and the Skeena (Jasper, AB to Prince Rupert, BC)

• The Skyline car travels with the Canadian, and the Chaleur.

Bedroom

By day, a comfortable private room for two with armchairs, a small closet, private toilet and sink, the space converts to upper and lower berths by night. The shower is nearby.

Single Bedroom

This entirely private room for one person features a private washroom, sink and mirror. A comfortable sofa chair by day converts to a cosy bed by night. The shower is nearby.

Upper and Lower Berths

A semi-private area for two people, the wide couch-style seats give way to comfortable beds, each equipped with a reinforced privacy curtain. Washroom and shower facilities are located only a few metres away.

Ensuite Bedroom (subject to availability)

Two double bedrooms may be combined to create a larger area for families or those wanting extra space and provides four berths, four armchairs, two washrooms and two small closets. (No Diagram available.)

Note: Most VIA Rail sleeping cars have a convenient shower room. Amenity kits are provided.
